A gamified mobile learning platform that teaches students verbal self-defense through structured skill progression inspired by martial arts philosophy.
Role and scope
Owned UX and UI across student, teacher, and parent flows. Designed the gamification architecture, warrior dashboard system, belt progression model, and mobile design system. Led testing with students and collaborated with psychologists and educators to align mechanics with developmental principles.
The goal was to make verbal self-defense feel like a skill students actively train, not a lecture they passively consume.
Younger users are deeply motivated by progression systems and character development. Instead of positioning lessons as "anti-bullying content," we reframed the experience as personal growth through mastery.
I drew inspiration from learning platforms such as Duolingo, adapting habit-forming progression mechanics to a communication training context. At the same time, the martial arts belt system provided a culturally grounded structure for advancement.
Delivered a practice-based learning experience that makes communication skill-building feel like upgrading yourself.
